What a small business should automate first

Three routine tasks that eat the most time and are the easiest to put on autopilot.

Automation sounds like something for big companies. In fact, small businesses gain the most from it: when your team is five people, every hour of routine shows.

1. Enquiries

A client fills in a form, writes in a messenger or calls. Someone has to collect all of it, write it down and not lose anything. Set things up so every enquiry lands in one place automatically and the right person is notified straight away.

2. Reminders

Missed appointments cost money. An automatic reminder the day before and on the day noticeably reduces no-shows, and nobody has to phone clients by hand.

3. Reports

If someone spends an hour every Monday pulling numbers into a spreadsheet, that’s your first candidate. A report that arrives on its own also has none of the copy-paste mistakes.

Start with the one task that annoys you most. Once it runs by itself, the next one will be obvious.
